New Companion - Elder Chiu!!!!!

Well this week went great.  My new companion is Elder Chiu and he is pretty cool.  I am really liking Elder Chiu.  He is from Taiwan and it is pretty cool. He is awesome, I still don't know to much about him but he loves to sing and play the guitar.  He's pretty good too.  He was a mandarin elder in Raleigh for 9 months with the same companion for the whole 9 months!!!  and He's been out for 9 months!!!  He speaks mandarin Chinese and so he was doing that  but his English is pretty good.  I just have to help him sometimes but that's all good:)  Elder Chiu has been in Raleigh because a lot of college kids speak Chinese.  I'm English and so is he but its pretty funny when we have a door contact and he will be like - what did they say!!!  He is a good missionary! :)

It has been fun this week and we found a lot of new people to teach - 8 to be exact!!!  It was crazy.  My bike is fixed - a member named Brother Bowman took it in and got it fixed for me and he payed for it.  That was super nice I couldn't tell him thank you enough times!  It was great because then we went and biked 14 miles and had some great lessons!! We now have a teaching pool of about 15 - 16 people.  I think their names are Maya, Kristy, Ronnie, James, Eden, Jeanette 3 more that I can't remember the names.  We met them with James and then their is also Charles, Shannon and Holland.   A lot hahaha!!!!   I think a few are getting close to baptism but it will take a while to get some of them there.  Some of the new ones might be faster going but I don't know  yet we will just keep working and teaching them.

I am still in Leland and will be for 5 more weeks for sure, but I don't know if I will be transferred or not but that's about it for this week.  Oh yeah we got yelled at by this guy because he had a no trespassing sign up and it was funny.  Also, Elder Chiu got scared by one of our members for having a gun on him. It has been a great week and super busy!!

My New Companion Elder Chiu

The trailer is where we have been tracting at.  It was pretty sketchy and the truck was sunk in to the ground like a foot.
We don't get to worried about things because people don't do anything.  They see our name badge and know who we are.  They just don't wanna talk to us hahah!!  People are actually kinda scared of us -  its pretty funny and they think we are like robots.  They think that we don't have personality's and all that but I have found out that the more happy you are the more people want to talk to you!!!

Gtg I'll try to write yall back that are writing me!!
Tell everyone i love them ttyl

Jeans are a wonderful thing!!! Oh and Service!!

Well this is about how my week went:

Monday - We went to an army surplus store.  It was pretty cool.   First time I have ever been in one so that was interesting.  Then we got to eat with the Nelsons and we had some pretty great fried chicken.

Tuesday - We spent all of the day cleaning the house.  It was super tiring but the house looks super good!!!  Mom would be proud!!!  We ended up getting a member referral which was fantastic!!!

Wednesday - We had a great district meeting.  Then we got to do a lot of service for a yard sale that was going on at the church!

Thursday and Friday - We had just a regular day with some tracting and some meetings.

Saturday - I got to wear jeans for the first time in 3 months!!!!!  It was AMAZING!!!   We went and helped build a floor back up in a house.  I jumped right down in there and started helping it was great and I had a ton of fun! I was all over in the crawl space with the guy putting up support beams and laying the floor.   It was so great to be working with my hands physically! Then the BEST part was that we got steak!!! It was sooooooo good!!! I enjoyed it a lot.

Sadly Elder Garlick is leaving but I am staying in Leland.  I get a new companion and I'll be junior companion still but I know the area more!!  They were trying to tell me that I would be training someone!!  NOT!!!  Today will be a fun day but it is my last day with Elder Garlick.  I have no idea who the next Elder will be but I'm excited!!

Chocolate Cake, Bacon and Car Accident!!!

Well this week started off great.  We had a zone activity and we played a whole bunch of sports - we played crab soccer and basketball and chair soccer and a ton of games it was super fun!! It was also Elder Garlicks birthday last Monday so that was pretty cool. Then that night we ate at the Childs home.  They are super cool and we always have a good time over there.  He is a less active member and we work with him quite often which is really fun.  He is a great guy and really funny.

Tuesday was a great day.  We went out and tracted a bunch and just worked super hard and we ended up having a lesson with a recent convert and we were able to get pretty personal. After the great lesson they gave us this big chocolate cake for Elder Garlicks birthday!!! Chocolate cake makes any week pretty great!!

Then we have Wednesday - that was a very interesting day.  We had a zone conference and then we had this big multi zone thing and we were gonna go walk threw some gardens. Unfortunately on the way over, Elder Garlick and I got rear ended.  So I have officially been in a car accident!!! Everybody was fine but our car doesn't look the best but it is still drive-able which is good.  Then went on an exchange with Elder Matkin which was a ton of fun!!

Then Thursday was super interesting we ended up getting some groceries dropped off by a member and we were able to have bacon!!!  That is right up there with chocolate cake!!!  It was so good and then we exchanged back.  Then we had to fill out some forms for the car accident then went to work.  We had a great day but that night was interesting we got a call and ran over to an investigators house.  We had a pretty crazy experience in which we truly saw just how powerful Satan can be.  Everything was fine but it was really an interesting experience! The rest of the weekend went pretty normal, went out tracting and found a new investigator which was super awesome!!

On Sunday we were able to participate in a blessing.  I anointed with oil and it was super amazing.  This week was different but really awesome.  I LOVE being a missionary!!!

Defying Gravity

So this week was great!!  We went to what's called defy gravity on Monday.  It was a trampoline place and it was super fun.  No pictures though, sorry and that was it but it was much better then sleeping!!

This wee we got a lot done and we had a 2 day exchange.  I was with a missionary who was younger in the mission than I was but it was fun.  Then the next day we had another missionary join us and I basically hauled them all over my area but it was fun and I got to drive for 2 days!!  So much fun and we ate a tone of good food and the people here really like hamburgers its kinda funny but I had jambalaya which was pretty yummy.

We have been doing some cool object lessons where my finger gets smashed with a can and its pretty funny.  This week we felt prompted to go visit some people who we had met and we have a family who is super prepared to hear the gospel.  It was super awesome.  They invited us right in and fed us and then we shared a thought and they invited us back.  It was super awesome this week has been tons of fun and I have more fun coming!!!

Bad Boys, Bad Boys - Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come For You - Bad Boys

Well, some pretty crazy stuff has happened this last week - well not too much but a little lady who did not want us around her neighborhood called the cops on us.  It was pretty funny.  She was the only one who didn't want us their but we did place a Book of Mormon before the 2 cops showed up!!  That was awesome.  The people we placed the Book of Mormon with felt pretty bad about it.  The cops didn't even want to be there!!  They had to ask us to leave so we did.  We placed one other Book of Mormon but other than that the week was really not successful even though we tracted a lot.  We ended up having to walk the other day because the pedal on my bike broke and so I can't use it and we ran out of miles on the car for the month.  While we were out walking it rained on us and we didn't have our suitcoats on either so we got soaking wet. It was actually super fun and I enjoyed it because it was so hot and it cooled me down.

For P-day on Monday we went and caught crabs at the park that was interesting!!!

We watched all of Saturday General Conference at the church and Sunday we got to go to some members home so that was really nice.  I really enjoyed President Uchdorf's talk at the Priesthood session about relationships and fatherhood that was really good.  Then I really liked the way Elder Holland closed.  It was a really good conference.

That's pretty much it for this week - transfers were 7 weeks apart this time because of the change at the MTC so I will be here in Leland until at least the 18th.  That's when transfers will be and then I will either transfer or stay here for another 6 weeks.  So everyone can still write me or send packages to this address!!!  LOL!!

Love and miss everyone

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everyone!!!  The holidays are a little weird and different more like a normal day.  We visited some people and ate food. At least I have a while to get used to that before Christmas!!!  LOL.  This week has gone good.  We got a new investigator his name is Charles.  He's a pretty nice guy we met him out tracting.  It was pretty cool.  we just started talking to him and he was really interested in what we had to say.  He wanted to learn more so that was great.  It was pretty funny though because the area where we met Charles was a little sketchy and we had a police officer come and he checked on us to make sure no one had done anything and that we were safe.  I never felt unsafe there at all.  I have felt more unsafe in nicer neighborhoods than I did where Charles was.  The people are a bit different but most everyone is really nice and the cop thing was funny.  I guess the Lord looks out for us and watches out for us in many different ways.

Teaching people has been going really well this week, we taught 11 lessons.  I feel like I am teaching pretty good so that makes me happy.  I feel like I need to take over more and not get scared of speaking because after all it's not actually me speaking right?? Or so we hope!!!  We also helped out a recent convert this week too.  She was close to having a break down because of her financial problems and we were able to help get her over that and regain faith that she would be all right and that she would get past this difficult time.

Elder Garlick and I gave some instructions at the district meeting and that was cool.  We are the top district in my mission so that's awesome.  It's kinda funny but in my mission I am super young!!  I am only older than 2 people in my district.  That's pretty funny to me.  Oh and Elder Garlick said that apparently I pray in my sleep!!!  Hahahahahaha!!

P-day was different, we actually slept for most of it so that was good but it was kinda boring too!!  I guess every P-day can't be at the beach!!

I hope everyone had a great Easter.  Love yall and miss ya.

Temple Trip & Old Churches

We got to go on a temple trip this week. It was great. We did one session and had lunch. We didn't even have to get up early just the same time we always do we just left early. It was an all day trip into Raleigh. It was awesome the temple is so small like smaller then the church building next to it but so pretty!! Everyone in my zone was there so like 30 of us plus president and sister James.

This week was good, we did a lot of tracting and found another investigator and we tracted some more and we ran into this guy that was like high that was funny and we also ran into this lady who was just wanting to argue but i just had us walk away. We had some awesome food this week and overall just a great time.

On Monday, our P-day, we went and walked around downtown Wilmington and looked at old churches. They were really cool so it was a lot of fun! We went and got ice cream after and we found another new investigator to so that was fun!!

We also got to see a recent convert bless the sacrament for the first time that was cool and then Sunday i gave a talk. It was on missionary work and it was crazy and scary but everyone said i did good so i think it didn't go to bad!!

I found this green suit in our house and wore it to district meeting. It was so funny??

We found this in a pond next to Walmart!!! Its like 10 feet or so took that picture today hahaha!!! I was going to go wrestle it but it's against the law here. LOL.

Elder Garlick and I made some new songs from some songs off of frozen and tangled!! We made them to missionary work it is funny I'll send those to you. Its been a good week!!

Funny Story!!!!

So funny story - remember that guy who cursed us.  Well we found out that he had a heart attack the next day!!!  Is that crazy or what!!  I have actually been sick but it was not his curse!!!  LOL!!

Well guess what - there are actually missionaries younger then me here now!!! We got a new district leader and it is great.  I am still having fun and really enjoying it and soon everyone might just be asking me for advice!!! LOL.  The work is going great.  I am opening up more and talking to more people so that is good.

I am actually reading Jesus the Christ right now if anyone would like to join me.  It is a really deep read and you cannot read it fast at all but you definitely get so much out of it.  I really enjoy reading it, there's a lot you can come to know through it.  I really enjoy it but definitely not what I am use to!  Enos and Jarom are also good chapters to read.  I think a lot of people over look them because of how short they are but you can learn a lot of really good lessons from them.  I have learned a lot about being Christ like especially from Enos.

Investigators are good, I would say some aren't progressing as much as they could be but they are slowly and that's alright.  We will get them there. I think a lot of them are trusting us more and are really listening to what we have to say and the spirit testifying of what we say.  I love the first vision.  It's great.  I almost have it memorized but I really like it and it is amazing.  Without the first vision we would literaly have nothing.  It has been a great week.

Trio Companionship

It has been super busy here - Pday is always great.  We played volleyball and a ton of basketball at the beach again.

We had the exchange that I told you all about and it went great.  I took over the area and it was fun.  Elder Delamare and I found another new investigator.  Her name is Barbara.  She's new to Leland and really nice.  It was nice tracting into her. I taught like all of the 4 minute lesson/contact so that was super cool. Elder Delamare said that he really couldn't tell that I had only been out 6 weeks so I felt pretty good about that.

We have district meetings every Wednesday and after out meetings we did a super power clean of everything.   We had some other Elders come and they spent the night with us because we went up to Raleigh on Thursday for first transfer training.  It was fun to have them come stay.  We had to get up at 4:30 in the morning to get up there and we drove like 6 hours that day.  It was great though I learned a lot.  They check to see how we are all doing.  We got advice and instruction from President and Sister James and the AP's. I love President and sister James they are super nice and so great.  I love meeting with them whenever I can.  President James is so funny, you just have to hear the way he talks.  He always says the funniest stuff.  We didn't get home until 8.  We went clear out to Tabor City to pick up another Elders things.  His companion was transferred so technically I have 2 trainers now!!  (I hope that doesn't mean anything bad about me!!! LOL!!!)   So we have done tons of driving all over the mission this week but I have 2 companions and thats been fun.    The other Elder is Elder Jorganson and he's super cool.  He came out with Elder Garlick.

I do miss everyone but I know I am where I need to be and I do love it.  It's hard some days but it is worth it.  We have one investigator that is slacking off but you can see how satan works when we let him in the picture.  Some days I love tracting and other days I don't.  I do love sharing the gospel and being in North Carolina.

Love and miss yall
